Röchling Industrial decides on a joint approach with EPSM partners for the calculation of Life Cycle Assessments

Röchling Industrial, together with leading manufacturers of technical plastic semi-finished products, has agreed on a unified framework for calculating Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) within the Engineering Polymer Shapes for Machining Association (EPSM).

EPSM is a sector group of the European association European Plastics Converters (EuPC), which unites European manufacturers of plastic semi-finished products (Ensinger, Gehr, Licharz, Mitsubishi Chemical, Röchling Industrial and Zell Materials) and serves as a central platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience as well as the joint development of industry standards.

The LCAs of Röchling Industrial comply with the international standard ISO 14040/44 and allow for a detailed analysis of the environmental impact of products from raw material extraction to the factory gate. By adopting a joint approach to LCA calculation, EPSM establishes a solid foundation for verifiable environmental data.

"A common framework for LCA calculation of plastic semi-finished products is a decisive step towards greater transparency in our industry," emphasises Anke Mensen, Specialist Sustainability at Röchling Industrial. “This is why we are actively committed to shaping a collective approach.”

The joint initiative strengthens confidence in engineering plastics as sustainable materials of the future. At the same time, it underscores the commitment of all participants to responsible production and procurement processes.
